Grundig TK 145

The TK 145 Deluxe from Grundig is a four-track mono tape recorder with a belt speed (9.5 cm / sec) and the tube equipment: EF86, EF83, ECC81 and ECL86. A BC107 transistor is also installed. Except from the automatic recording control, it offers no special features. The button for the recording mode also serves as a recording button, which must be pressed while the large rotary switch is turned towards the start position. This rotary switch is for easy operation of the drive.

The TK 145 in the ready-to-operate state. Only one tape has to be put on. By the way, the unit can only take tape coils up to a size of 15 centimeters.

Right in the picture you see the connections for loudspeakers, microphone and a further input source. A further connection is located on the upper right side of the device. The voltage selector for the mains voltage of the device can be seen on the left.

Let's take a look inside the unit with the cover removed. Now it is easy to see that it is a tube device. The drive mechanics are fairly simple and still work flawlessly after all these years. Even the drive belts are still usable. In the middle of the drive, you can see the automatic end switch of the device, which is triggered by a switching film on the tape. The plate with the four screws, on which also the tape guide is located, should not be solved if possible. Reassembling is anything but simple.

Here you can see a detail of the middle part of the drive with the automatic shutdown. This, by the way, completely switches off the mains voltage.

A view from below into the open device. In contrast to many other tube devices, the TK 145 from Grundig does not have a separate mains transformer for the tube amplifier.

As usual at Grundig, a single motor is used to drive the entire drive.
